Giving Back With Gratitude

Teacher's Day Celebrations - 2016

As the 5th of Sept was a holiday, SJBHS celebrated Teacher’s Day on the 12th of Sept with a special assembly. Teachers’ Day celebrations are attributed to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who believed that:
‘The end product of education should be a free creative man, who can battle against historical circumstances and adversities of nature.’

After the usual flag hoisting and the school song, the students took over the special assembly. A prayer and prayer song by the primary school students set the mood for the events to follow.

The speeches, dances, songs and poems reverberated in the minds of every teacher present at the venue reminding them of the joys, pleasures and gratitude associated with the profession. The highlight of the entertainment programme was the item by the Captains and Vice Captains of SJBHS.

Mr. Shivaprakash, Sports and PE Teacher for decades gave a speech in which he recalled the importance of teachers in his life. Nobel Peaace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai put it very succinctly when she said: ‘One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world.’

The celebrations continued in the noon session when the PTA welcomed the staff with flowers and felicitated retired teachers. The PTA members showed overwhelming gratitude to the school calling SJBHS a place where ‘a temple of learning is converted into a temple of transformation.’ The chief guest, Fr. Claude highlighted the plight of the teachers as being one wherein there are unlimited expectations. He said a teacher’s role is a transformative role.

A song by the members of the PTA, games and a sumptuous lunch ended the celebrations and everyone called it a day - one to cherish for a long time.
