Teacher's day Celebrations 2015

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk,

The birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, first Vice President and second President of independent India, is commemorated by the celebration of Teachers’ Day all over India. At SJBHS, Teachers’ Day is a special day as students get to express their thanks and gratitude to their teachers - Sirs and Chers.

This year, Teachers’ Day fell on the same day as the Annual Athletic Meet, and so the celebrations were held later – on the 11th of Sept. Notwithstanding the slight delay, a warm welcome awaited all the teachers. The celebrations began with an invocation prayer and song in honour of the many loving hands that guide the boys in SJBHS. A bouquet of poems, songs and dances was rendered by the students of every section of the school. The sincere performances were well appreciated by everyone.

The Principal, SJBHS, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira, S.J., greeted the teachers, and reiterated the Jesuit belief that no vocation was more sacred than teaching. He wished for every teacher to have good health, happiness and joy in their lives and their chosen profession.

The celebrations ended with the singing of the National Anthem – also a reminder to the students that they had to go back to class and back to their books, with their teachers. After all, what better tribute to their Chers and Sirs could there be!
