Gratitude to our Chers and Sirs!
True teachers are those who help us think for ourselves.
Dr. S Radhakrishnan
The day, celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, first Vice President of India and second President of the country, is dedicated to teachers and justly so. Teachers are the cornerstones of society in innumerable ways.
At SJBHS, 5th September is a day when teachers forget the worries of their jobs, the onus of upskilling the young and the obligation of marking books and worksheets as the adulation of the students and the beautiful messages and cards puts to rest the fact that the mentors are ever going to give up their jobs willingly.
The day started with a special assembly inclusive of prayers and invocations for the good health and peace of the staff. Students, in their speeches acknowledged the role of the teacher on par with an architect that shapes, designs, and beautifies the life, career path and mindset of the ones nurtured at school.
Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, in his message, put on record the dedication of the staff and their patience, creativity and ingenuity while mentoring the young pupils; the influence of which is felt far away from the environs of the class and has far reaching effects.
The afternoon belonged to the Parent Teacher Association(PTA) of the school. Their well-prepared entertainment programme, well-planned games, and well-thought of lunch arrangements made the staff feel special. Their genuine care and concern to the minute details of the day’s celebration makes for a symbiosis that has stood the test of time.
Teachers’ Day is memorable for the students as they get this one chance in the year to thank their educators; Teachers’ Day is memorable for the PTA as they get this one chance toindulge the staff; but Teachers’ Day is memorable for the teachers themselves as they get this one chance to sit back, to unwind and realize that there is no better job than to teach, especially at SJBHS.
