The ‘back to school’ rite for the teachers began with a prayer calling on the Almighty to enrich the staff with His blessings.
Our Principal, Rev Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ welcomed all the old and the newly appointed staff as well as the newly installed Rector Rev Fr Brian Pereira SJ, and the newly appointed Administrator of the Primary School, Rev Fr Allwyn D’Souza SJ.
Rector’s speech acknowledged the efforts of the teachers and the guidance given by the Principal. He requested the teachers to carry forth the legacy of 160 years to reach higher pinnacles of glory and excellence.
The seminar was a two-part programme: On the first day, resource persons Mrs. Visalakshi Shridhar and Mr. Maxim Pereira took the sessions. They are part of the faculty of Montfort College and trainers in counselling as well as managing classroom behaviour.
The next day, Prof. Albert Sevanayagam and Mr. Jatindra Mohan, spoke about individual and group needs in the classroom and tasks which lead to learning, changing and ultimately to growth. Teachers were urged to think out-of-the-box, team work and enjoying the process of teaching.
At the end of the seminar the old and experienced SJBHS staff felt rejuvenated while the newly appointed ones were all geared to make their mark at SJBHS.
