(Resource person Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz, SJ) “If you want to plan for a year, plant rice If you want to plan for a century, plant trees If you want to plan for ages, plant human beings.”
The teachers were welcomed back into the portals of SJBHS by Fr. Dionysius Vaz, the dynamic Jesuit speaker for the day.
The enthusiasm and zeal for teaching was rekindled when Fr. began by asking the teachers to be partners in helping create people who will make an impact in the world. Fr. emphasized the need to be proactive rather than reactive while incorporating the ethos of Jesuit education which is to “not only to make a living but to make a life’’
The orientation, held on 30th May 2016, highlighted the four pillars of Jesuit education which stress on social, spiritual, intellectual and personal growth. The programme was interspersed with games, activities, brain-storming sessions and slide/film presentations This reiterated the all-important fact that education is an ongoing process with a number of learning styles which need to be incorporated by teachers to keep up with the current, fast-changing environment.
