Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

Annual General Body Meeting

Our school ethos calls for a collaboration between teachers, parents and support staff to enable the all-round and well-balanced development of the students. The PTA, with the Principal of SJBHS as its President, is a dynamic body, supporting the school in every possible way. The members of the executive committee are selected after nominations are complete.

Each member, thereafter, does his/her best to devote some of their valuable time to help in the myriad activities of the school.

The PTA-AGM, held on 14 July 2022 was convened after a notice was sent to the parents and teachers. The programme commenced with the invocation, as do all events at SJBHS. This was followed by the reading and adoption of the Annual Report by the Secretary of the PTA, Ms. Priyadarshini.

The formal meeting continued with the presentation of the statement of accounts for the year 2021-2022, by the Vice President of the PTA, Mr. Clifton Pinheiro.

Our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, then welcomed the gathering and placed on record the various activities undertaken in the school with a special focus on the events managed with the PTA in attendance. Father said that ‘No school is an island. A school, its Management and teachers work in tandem with the parents and the PTA is the fulcrum of that relationship.’

A video presentation of the history of the school in a capsule, over the past165 years, brought to the fore the rich legacy of SJBHS. The stage was then handed over to the guest speaker, Dr. Supraja Chandrasekar, Consultant Pediatric Intensivist, Manipal Hospital, Yeswanthpur. Besides being a doctor with 19 years of experience, she is also a mother and an apt resource person to guide the parents, especially in the light of the lifestyle changes made during the pandemic. According to the doctor, the best mantra for a return to normality would be ‘Eat, Play and Connect.’ The resource person told the attentive audience about the correct food to be eaten, the reduction of screen time, the need for active play and the importance of proper sleep. For some parents the doctor’s advice was not a revelation. The problem was to adhere to the routine!

The programme ended with the words of the resource person echoing in the minds of the parents while the management and teachers know that this event would go a long way in setting things back to the new normal that all of us must embrace for a fresh tomorrow!
