The last Annual General Body Meeting of the PTA was held on Friday, 16th June 2017 at 4:30 pm. The chief guest was Rev Fr Joseph Royan who spoke animatedly about the importance of compassionate, involved parenting. Using anecdotes and stories, he urged parents to make time for their children, appreciate them and love them. The PTA Committee for 2017-18 had 31 members. Our Principal, Fr Clifford, is the President of the PTA. The committee had 10 staff representatives and 21 parents. Mr. Srivinas Varda was re-elected as the Vice President and Mrs. Sudehhna Ghosh and Mr Antony were elected as the Secretaries for the year 2017-18.
Following is a brief synopsis of PTA activities conducted during the last academic year:
The PTA organized a Health Checkup for the teachers and hosted the Teachers’ Day Celebrations. Our Rector, Rev.Fr. Anthony Joseph and former Principal Rev. Fr. Hedwig Da Costa, were present to grace the occasion and greet the SJBHS family of teachers on their special day. The PTA also felicitated a few old teachers who had served the school for many years and conducted a fun filled quiz for all present as part of the entertainment programme. In addition, the teachers were given a token of appreciation from the Teachers’ Welfare Fund from the interest earned. The event concluded with an exquisite buffet at BBQ.
Children’s Day was made special for our kids as chocolate doughnuts and juices were distributed to all.
At Phenomenon 2017, the proceeds of Rs 11 lakh has been donated to Manvi Mission and another Rs 5 lakh has been donated to Anekal and Loyola, both schools run by the Jesuits, catering to poor and underprivileged children. The Phenomenon Raffle Draw was conducted at the school assembly in the second week of January 2017.
The Go Green Team of the PTA observed a Go Green Week from 9th Jan to 12th January 2018. The following events were conducted for the students of LKG to Std 8:
Sorting of Healthy & Junk food.
Wealth out of waste
Save our planet, rivers, and water to sensitize the students on saving our environment. The winners were given certificates and attractive prizes.
Glass tea cups were given to the entire staff to reduce use of paper cups in school.
7 steps of hand washing posters were posted over all the wash basins of the school
A Health Checkup was held for students of LKG to Std 11 by the doctors of St Johns Medical College in the month of February 2018. In addition, an extensive dental checkup was conducted by the Dental Health Organization. The reports were digitalized and results uploaded on pupilpod.
A Study Tour for science students of Stds 8,9,10 & 11 was organized at Narayana multi specialty hospital.
The IT Committee organized a Computer Training Programme for teachers of LKG to Std 8.
A befitting finale to the year was the Triathalon that was conducted for students of Std 7, 8 and 9. This swim – cycle – run event was conducted on an early Sunday morning with participants having to report at 5:30 am as the cycling was held outside the campus. Nearly 80 students cheerfully and enthusiastically took part in this event. The winners of the Triathalon were felicitated at the school assembly.
The events team helped the primary teachers to organize Chilgala to showcase creative potential of the students. The fest began with a colourful fancy dress competition and offered a wide variety of other activities such as Drawing, Recitation, Show and Tell, Wealth out of Waste, Singing, Creative Writing, Elocution, Story Telling, Pick and Speak, Dance, and Fancy Dress.
