PTA Annual General Body Meeting - 2016

There are only two lasting things we can bequeath to our children. One of them is roots; the other, wings. This year’s PTA AGM echoed the essence of this truth in the recent event in SJBHS.

The PTA AGM 2015-16 convened with the arrival of Chief Guest and speaker, Dr Ali Khwaja, Rector Rev. Fr. Anthony Joseph SJ, Principal of SJBHS, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira SJ, Vice Principal, Mrs. Miriam Angelo and the Administrator of the Primary Section, Rev. Fr. Robert Rodrigues SJ.

The proceedings began with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by an invocation of the Lord’s blessings with the melodious rendition of a hymn by the teachers of the school.

Mrs. Reena Pereira, the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PTA began with the minutes of the previous AGM, followed by Mr. Mruthunjaya, former Vice President of the PTA who besides presenting the financial report for the year 2015-16, congratulated the Principal and Staff of SJBHS and acknowledged the success of the academic year gone by.

Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira warmly welcomed everyone present and introduced the Chief Guest Dr Ali Khwaja. The Rector, Rev. Fr. Anthony Joseph, SJ, in his brief address to the audience appreciated the multifarious activities of the PTA and suggested that the same be published in a biannual newsletter brought out by the PTA. He also suggested that the PTA should include, in their itinerary, a number of activities to benefit the poor.

The Chief Guest Dr Ali Khwaja, speaking on the topic ‘The Role of a Parent’ touched on three critical tips for effective parenting – communication, consistency and role-modeling. It was an informative session and held the audience in rapt attention by interspersing thought provoking issues with light hearted, humorous anecdotes.

Mr. Bernard Chetty delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the evening to a close.
