MUN 2017

SJBHSMUN 2107, was the fifth edition of the annual Model United Nations (MUN) conference held at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School. This event was conducted on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of November 2017. It was a successful event with over 350 delegates from over 20 institutions across the city.

These delegates discussed issues relating to real world scenarios, with each committee discussing a diverse range of topics ranging from the formation of the Hague Convention to today’s issues, such as climate change and mass surveillance.

Over three days of constructive debate, students came to a consensus and drafted comprehensive resolutions to tackle the problems put forth by their respective committees:

  1. Legal

  2. SOCHUM

  3. Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries

  4. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

  5. Futuristic Security Council

  6. Special Summit on The Hague Convention

  7. The Reich Cabinet

  8. Historic Emergency Summit

  9. Historic Emergency Summit

SJBHS MUN 2017 was a great learning experience and brought to the fore the pioneering ideas of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru as he envisaged an India where every person explained the meaning of democracy as 'for the people, by the people and of the people'; where children were trained to be citizens of tomorrow and where the world narrows down to being a global village; indifference to the problems of the world is not a solution.
