Celebrated on the 1st of November every year, this day marks the anniversary of the formation of the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India, Karnataka, in 1956. On the 10th of November, 2017, the management, staff and students of SJBHS celebrated the State Formation Day with pomp and show, pride and joy – glorifying the rich heritage, abundant history and luxuriant culture of the state.
The special assembly commenced with a thanksgiving prayer to the Almighty for the blessings bestowed on Karnataka and the need for His continual protection and guidance to the guardians of the abundant resources that is the hallmark of Karnataka. A wide array of songs, speeches and poems marked the vivid cultural diversity and the linguistic richness of the state. References to Karnataka being a forerunner in the race for superiority in the fields of Literature, resource management and intellectual as well as spiritual harmony were made, to highlight the unity in diversity of the demography of the state.
Mr. Balraj, from the Kannada department of SJBHS, in his speech, laid emphasis on the audience, namely the students of SJBHS, saying that anyone from any other state residing in Karnataka had to ‘act local and think global’ and it was their role to preserve the future of their homeland while elevating it to greater heights of glory!
The programme concluded with the state anthem being sung with full patriotic vigor and the sense of belonging to a Karnataka where one feels that there is no other place like ‘Home’!
