JESCOL (Jesuit Collaboration) level one was organized at St Joseph’s College, Lalbagh Road from 18 to 20 November, 2019 for the staff members of BJES (Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society). Seventy nine participants took active part in the motivational three day session on Jesuit Collaboration.

The participants were from St Joseph’s College, St Joseph’s Commerce College, St Joseph’s Evening College and St Joseph’s Boys’ High School.

Fr. Praveen Hrudayaraj SJ started with an ice-breaking session after which Fr. Swebert D’Silva spoke on the purpose of JESCOL focusing on the Jesuit values. The next session was taken over by Fr.Pradeep Sequeira SJ and Fr.Jossie D’Mello. The former took the participants through Jesuit History, Origin and Growth and the latter focused on Jesuit Legacy: Purpose, Vision and Mission. Day- one ended with a panel discussion during which the panelists- who have been serving Jesuit Institutions for many years-shared their journey of experiences as collaborators with Jesuits.

On day two, Fr. Swebert D’Silva spoke on Jesuit Education and its characteristics after which Fr. Pradeep Sequeira gave a brief introduction of Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Loyola, and familiarized participants with Governance Structures in the Society of Jesus. Fr. Henry Saldanha gave a talk on Examination of Conscience after which there was a group activity on team work. The participants were greatly inspired by Fr. Praveen’s motivational message at the end of day two. On day three, Fr. Henry Saldanha SJ spoke on the importance of collaboration after which Fr. Francis Guntipally had a conversation with the participants on Contemporary Indian Situation: Need for inter-religious dialogue, peace- initiative, etc.
