The Ignatian week celebrations at SJBHS is normally the highlight for the month of July, synonymous with a multitude of programmes for the staff and students, sculptured to perfection by the management to renew, revitalize and refresh reverence to the great saint and patron of the Jesuits, St Ignatius of Loyola. However, this is the year of the pandemic and the stakeholders at SJBHS believed that celebrations would be at its all-time nadir. Needless to say, they were in for an SJBHS wake-up call!
The life, ministry and ideals of St Ignatius of Loyola were glorified, ennobled and praised through the INIGO FEST 2020 – ‘SJBHS has talent’, a bouquet of 22 online competitions for the students, parents, staff and their families! Colouring, drawing, painting and sketching; singing, instrumental music and dancing; e-poster designing, rangoli, fabric painting and 3D model making; show-your-talent, fancy dress and storytelling – it was all there!

A virtual inter-religious prayer service, ‘AMDG – Conversations of the Heart’, prayed for peace on earth and renewal to normality. A global quiz competition, QU!Z IN!GO, conducted by the Karnataka Jesuit Province highlighted the path taken by the ‘soldier’ Inigo that led him to become St Ignatius.
The feast day dawned, it was a holiday – and all were locked down at home. Yet, the celebrations were not contained! A virtual festal Mass celebrated by Rev Fr Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza SJ ( Provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province) brought home the festivities – a celebration of the work, ideology, principles and philosophies of St Ignatius of Loyola, as manifested by the Jesuits, through the centuries!
