Language Celebrations

Hindi Diwas

Every year, Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country on September 14th, to celebrate the popularity of Hindi as an official language of India. We held the celebration on 16th October during a special assembly held in Hindi.

The celebration commemorates the adoption of Hindi in the Devanagari script as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by Constituent Assembly of India in 1950. Hindi is spoken by 250 million people as the original language and it is the fourth language of the world.

The program for the day began with the welcome speech by the high school boys. The Lord’s Prayer, ‘Our Father’, was said by the students of 5th Std, followed by a prayer by a 7th Std student. The Josephites of the 6th Std sang a soulful prayer song. Our audience also got to witness the talents of the High School Boys who performed a group dance which was appreciated as was the singing that followed.

Fr Principal, in his speech, stressed the importance of celebrating Hindi Diwas every year in School. At the end of the programme, prizes were distributed for the various competitions which were held in the School premises. The competitions were as follows: Recitation Competition, Singing , Debate, Creative Writing, and Speech. The winners were given certificates and gift coupons.
