‘The highest education is that which does not merely give information. but makes our life in harmony with all existence’ Rabindranath Tagore
The banners, posters and messages displayed throughout the school building had just one thing to say: ‘Positive thoughts create a positive world’.
‘Harmony Week’ at SJBHS saw a series of competitions at every level. With students of Std. 10 chanting verses from any religious text other than their own, students of Std. 8 bringing in photographs to show their visit to holy places other than their own faith, the week passed highlighting the message that communal harmony with nature ought to be the only religion for a progressive existence.
The 18th of August was celebrated as ‘Harmony Day’ at SJBHS, the first such day in the history of the school. The Guests of Honour were Old Boys of the batch of 1989: Dr. Shuaib Razvi, Mr. Samir Stewart, Mr. Suraj Chhabria and Mr. Arjun Unnikrishnan. They participated in a panel discussion about harmony and spoke about their understanding of religion and the role of educational institutions in bringing about religious harmony. The discussion ended with the unanimous decision that ‘Being Human’ is the only universal religion and ‘Friendship’ is the only way to celebrate each other’s life style and culture.
An array of dances, songs, dance dramas and video messages during the programme threw light on the multidimensional benefits of peace, harmony and goodwill to foster better rapport with one another and with Mother Earth.
