Josephites Lift Coveted Cricket Trophy

Inter-School Cottonian Cricket Tournament 2017

The Cottonian Shield hosted by Bishop Cotton Boys’ School has always been one of the most prestigious inter school cricket tournaments. SJBHS one of the top and all-time favourites participated in the tournament in both the U-16 and U-14 age categories and won. It was a double bonanza for our school as we emerged winners in both U-16 and U-14 categories and lifted both trophies.

The final of the U-14 Cottonian Shield Inter School Cricket Tournament played between hosts Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School had the makings of an international match, entertaining and exhilarating. The roar of cheers echoing from both sides of the crowds encouraged the teams to play harder! After an elegant display of skills, SJBHS U-14 team proudly took the Cottonian Shield from the hosts without conceding even a single defeat.

The final of the Cottonian Shield U-16 was played in a friendly atmosphere between the two finalists - SJBHS and Ebenezer International School. Our senior team emerged winners in this final as well, and it was the icing on the cake.

Some of the players who excelled with their bats in this tournament also displayed some wonderful bowling performances.
“A special thanks to our Principal Fr. Clifford Sequeira, an ardent sports fan and key driving force behind all the sports activities in our school”, says Mr. Syed Mahaboob, School Cricket Coach. It was heartening to have his physical presence at the ground to watch the Cottonian Shield Finals and to see him motivating our boys throughout.
