Josephites never grow old! Right through their SJBHS journey they are serenaded on Children’s Day to make them feel young at heart, innocent and reveling in the joys of childhood. This online programme was conceptualized, coordinated and showcased by the staff and it was titled: ‘Celebrating Childhood’!
The programme commenced with a serene prayer song, keeping in mind the pandemic times and the importance of God in the life of every Josephite. Our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ reminded the students that the day commemorated the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru - a patriot, nature lover, scholar and one who loved children. The students were advised to cultivate new interests, learn new skills, explore innovative possibilities, challenge themselves, be open minded and helpful to others especially the poor and the needy.
Fr Sunil wished the students on their special day and asked each one of them to remain humble and to cling to the innocence of childhood, irrespective of their age.
Our Primary School Administrator, Fr Joel Fernandes SJ, stressed on the belief that ‘Every child is a miracle’ and asked all the onlookers to learn the lessons taught by children – to be happy for no reason, to be forever busy and to be truthful and honest!
The Pre-Primary teachers showcased ethnic and cultural diversity with regional dances, vernacular songs and wishes in a myriad of dialects. Not to be left behind were the Primary staff with their symphony showcasing the antics of students in the classroom!
The Middle School staff coalesced together snippets of the various activities of the students – during their busy hours and during their ‘off hours’. The high school teachers spoke of online teaching, cross connections and broken links!
Songs, messages, skits, dances and some excellent mono- acting by the staff members every teacher put their best foot forward and there were plenty of laughter and joy, celebrating the lighter moments of school life.
