Investiture Ceremony 2016

Our nation celebrated its 67th Republic Day, and a few days later on the 29th of January, our school held its Investiture Ceremony. Both are symbols of a robust electorate! The newly elected office bearers had won through the democratic tradition of free and fair elections for the post of Captains and Vice Captains of SJBHS.

The Vice-Principal, Mrs. Miriam Angelo, welcomed the office bearers of the four houses as they escorted the Principal, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira, S.J., to the assembly grounds. The school flag was hoisted and the school song resounded through the cool morning air.

The prayer song ‘You reign on high’ followed by the prayer, called on the Almighty to bless the office bearers as they strive to uphold the school motto ‘Faith and Toil’.

Rev. Fr. Clifford affixed the badges on their blazers and the proud Captains and Vice- Captains took their oath. The Principal commissioned the office bearers to strive to earn the teachers’ trust and the love of their fellow students as they surge forward to uphold the blue and white flag, bringing honour and glory to SJBHS.

The beaming, highly enthusiastic and proud Captains and Vice- Captains then expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their mentors and fellow students while promising to abide by the rules and undertake the duties entrusted to them. The Vice-Principal congratulated the leaders as they donned the mantle of leadership and advised them to inspire others with their behaviour. The ceremony ended with a round of thunderous applause!
