Baldwin Shield - 2017


Congratulations to SJBHS football team on their double bonanza at the finals of the Baldwin's Interschool Football Tournament!

In the U-16 category, SJBHS beat Baldwin's 4:3 at the penalty shootout after a thriller of a match that ended 1:1 with no goal scored in the extra time. Both teams played exceptionally well and the teams were evenly poised when Nakshatra of SJBHS scored a stunning goal. Baldwin's fought back and won a penalty which was successfully converted with just 2 minutes remaining.

In the penalty shootout, the SJBHS goal keeper, Tejas, dived to the left to save the goal but injured himself in the thigh. Despite limping, he continued and saved one more goal brilliantly to help the team lift the trophy.

SJBHS U- 14 team beat Bishop Cottons’ team 4:0 to lift the trophy. The match was actually a ‘no match’ as Josephites scored goal after goal with ease. After having two walkovers from Baldwin’s Co-education High School and Cathedral High School respectively, the U-14 SJBHS Football team entered the semi-finals against Baldwin Boys’ High School team (host team) thereby beating them with a score line of 8: 2. Aaron Joshua David and Keane Paul Sandhu each delivered a hatrick followed by a goal each by Irvin and Neil Joseph.

The finals against the Bishop Cottons’ Boys’ High School team was played with an all-out spirit to challenge the arch rivals. The SJBHS team displayed characteristic grit and determination when they piped the opponents 4:0.

The individual awards were as follows:
Best striker: Aaron Joshua (Junior Category)
Best midfielder: Neil Joseph (Junior Category)
Coach Deepu was adjudged the Best Coach.
Best defender of the Tournament: Melwyn Emmanuel (Senior category).
Most promising player of the Tournament: Nakshatra Jain (Senior category).
