On the 15th of July, 2017, the SJBHS Auditorium was grandly adorned and awaited the awardees, their proud parents and well wishers of the Primary Section. They were to be recognised for their diligence and hard work.
The Chief Guests for the occasion, Dr. Vijay H D Kamath (MBBS, MS- Orthopedics , F.N.B.E. Spinal Surgery) Dept. of Orthopedics and Spinal Surgery/Old Boy and Dr. Mrs. Anne Marie Kongari Kamath along with the Guest of Honour, Rev Fr Anthony Joseph, Rector of St. Joseph’s Institutions were led to their seats by our Principal, Rev Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, Vice Principal Mrs. Miriam Angelo, Primary School Administrator Rev Fr Robert Rodrigues SJ and the Coordinators of the Primary Section Mrs. Jessy Virginia Mariappa and Mrs. Anitha M.
As with every event at St. Joseph’s, the programme began with a prayer invoking God’s blessings. This was followed by an Invocation Dance Showcasing God’s love and His immense power. The Welcome Dance and the Welcome Address made the audience feel very special. What followed was a dance drama with a message of healing the world not only for ourselves but for our future generations.
The Rector congratulated the winners, applauded the efforts of the teachers and parents for their dedication and hard work while inviting them to be collaborators in the Jesuit education at SJBHS. The Chief Guest, who is a doctor and an Old Boy, took the opportunity to advise parents on the importance of the family in a child’s life. He also told the young Josephites that the school motto of ‘Faith and Toil’, which is always uppermost in his mind, made it possible to achieve his life’s goals. He advised the students to always show gratitude towards their teachers, parents and elders. He encouraged them to engage in physical activities, to cultivate hobbies and to embrace certain art forms like music and dance, which are actually stress busters.
It was very heartening to see so many young Josephites vying for the prizes early in life!
