Annual Retreat 2021

Renewal of the Spirit
‘I searched for God and found myself.
I searched for myself and found only God.’
- Rumi
Year two of the pandemic made its grand appearance with the deadly second wave. We had our grievances and our protests. We questioned and even doubted the mercy and the goodness of the heavenly powers. Amid the confusion of the human mind and spirit, the Annual Retreat 2021was a revitalizer, a way to re-discover our beliefs and a rejuvenation of our spirituality.
The half-day retreat was a journey of searching and seeking God. The prayer, at the beginning, was a reminder of God’s plan for us and an aide-mémoire that the future is secure in the hands of our maker, who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
The spiritual director for the retreat, Rev Fr. Vivian, focused on the theme ‘Searching for God.’ Through Bible readings, parables and discourse, the preacher magnified the glorious name of the Creator. Fr Vivian consoled those who were in distress and re-iterated the fact that even if the path is strewn with obstacles and troubles, it is God alone who is our strength and our healer.
The Management of SJBHS had organized the praise and worship session, the preaching, the adoration and the Holy Mass as a way of creating space and time for its stakeholders to dedicate themselves to their spiritual growth and well-being, a means of offering their hardships to the Almighty and a mode of keeping all of the suffering humanity in prayer. The end result was a renewal of the spirit.
