Annual Prize Day 2022

Faith and Toil for Academic Success

The students of the batch of 2022, both ISC and ICSE, left an indelible mark with their excellent results at the Boards, in spite of all the odds. A tough pandemic year, an uncertain future and online education were a few of the hurdles in their paths. Such resilience was rewarded on 27 August 2022, in the school auditorium. The Annual Prize Day recognized the academic prowess of the highest scorers in their subjects and rewarded hard work, diligence and perseverance.

The Chief Guest, Rev Fr Joy Rodrigues SJ, BJES Secretary and Treasurer presided over the function. The short yet profound programme commenced with the prayer and a special song. The Annual Report, that followed, showcased the cultural, sports, curricular and extra-curricular activities as well as the highlights of the academic year 2021-2022.

The Vice Principal, Mr. Brian McKertish welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, warmly. The Chief Guest, in his address, acknowledged the hard work and sacrifice of the teachers and the academic achievers. His advice to the students was not to rest on the laurels of these achievements but to treat them as seeds sown that will bear fruits of excellence in the future.

The Principal, Rev Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, spoke about the Jesuit vision of ‘Cura Personalis’ or caring for the whole person. He counseled the students to practice this principle in all that they do.

The Prize Distribution that followed were proud moments framed for life in the minds of the academic achievers, their pleased parents and equally happy teachers. SJBHS celebrated yet another year of glory with two all-India toppers and a host of other students with scores that were significant and noteworthy – calling for a celebration of grit, determination and fortitude – all in keeping with the motto of the school ‘Fide et Labore’ (Faith and Toil)
