Visitors from Belgaum

Sharing our Values with Other Schools

Jesuits believe in lay collaboration which means to have some sort of equality and oneness with their sister concerns. Our Principal Fr Sunil Fernandes is no different in thoughts. This could be seen in the way he welcomed the Team from St Paul’s High School, Belgaum, making them feel at home.

A team of 5 members headed by the Vice Principal - Fr Sebastian Pereira SJ accompanied by Headmistress - Ms Lira D’Souza, Ms Veelina Gonsalves, Ms Stacy Saunders and Ms Jenifer Santiago made their visit to SJBHS to get a few insights into the functionality of the school. As always, the session started with a meaningful prayer thanking God for showering us with the gift of collaboration. The session continued with Fr Principal laying stress on the importance of lay collaboration and how the exchange programmes go a long way in benefitting us and helping us grow.

Our Pre- primary Coordinator, Ms Nichelle Sharon Pinto started with the introduction followed by an ice breaking session. It helped both the sides to have a nice laugh together. She then briefed them about the working of our school and activities such as the Orientation programme for parents of the newly admitted LKG children, the importance of Phonics and how it helps in learning to read faster, Fun Days, Sports Day, Annual Day, Grandparents’ Day.

A brief explanation, was given, about the periodic assessments for the holistic development of the child. The significance of our special educators to help children with learning difficulties, was highlighted. Special mention was made about the recent visit of our LKG and UKG boys to school as that event was a big hit especially after two years of no physical classes. The team was also taken around the school and shown the different amenities that it provides to its students for their overall development. A brief report about the school website and app followed by a brief talk on the teachers’ contribution in making the Knowledge Series Video was also given.

The session was quite interactive with both the sides getting to know about the events of their respective schools. The session ended with thanking the team for giving us an opportunity to spend a fruitful day with them and helping us to live up to being true Jesuit collaborators!
