Valedictory 2023

Goodbye & God Bless

The Valedictory 2023 was held on a stunning winter afternoon with a chill in the air, a breath taking sunset, a dazzling school building, happy parents and grandparents, and uplifting music.

Our Principal, Fr. Sunil Fernandez SJ, led the graduating classes of Clases 10 and 12 into the SJBHS grounds. The Chief Guest Mr. Prithvi Reddy (Old Boy, batch of 1986) and former Principal Fr. Michael John SJ were escorted to the dignitaries' enclosure by the Vice Principal Mr. Brian Mctertish, and the Primary School Administrator Fr. Vishal D’Souza as the pupils made one last lap around their beloved school grounds. Accompanying them were, OBA President Dr. Praveen Rodriguez, OBA Secretary Mr. K.T. Lazar, PTA Vice President Mr. Clifton Pinero, PTA Secretary Mrs. Priyadarshinee, and Finance Officer Fr. Joy Rodriguez SJ.

Five students who had distinguished themselves in the areas of academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, community service, harmony, values, and school loyalty conducted the prayer service. The Principal welcomed everyone and stressed the value of a Jesuit education in his speech, emphasizing how it gives students a solid foundation and the freedom to integrate everyone in the school, regardless of faith, religion, or sociocultural background. He underlined the importance of being sensitive in a society that is multi-faith and diverse and of being ambassadors of peace, harmony, and inclusiveness.

The representatives of the graduating batches gave their final message next, a throwback on their years at the school. They spoke about their heartfelt gratitude to the management, teachers, administrative and support staff.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Prithvi Reddy, an engineer, and social entrepreneur, spoke on how India today lacks accountability, preventing it from reaching its full potential despite having all the necessary assets to rank among the world's richest nations. He asserted that his ultimate objective is for everyone to live in a truly democratic nation. He expressed gratitude to his school years for imbuing him with the virtues of which he is so proud.

The pupils were given a memento and their graduation certificates after his inspiring speech. The program's following section was devoted to the charming tunes performed by the outgoing children and their teachers.

The students lit their candles next, a poignant moment, that served as a moving reminder that they were leaving the school’s doors and entering the world with the best preparation possible.
