To encourage and celebrate the diverse cultures of India, the Primary Section of St Joseph’s
Boys’ High School conducted a session on 23 November 2022, elaborating Jammu, Kashmir
and Ladakh. This session was held to inform and become aware of our rich heritage.
Ms Shruthi Kuttapa Malik is the director of Palthole Architecture and Design Pvt. Ltd and a
member of the Coorg Wildlife society promoting and improving nature and wildlife. The
other resource person was Ms Safira from the pre-primary department of SJBHS. She gave a
beautiful rendition of the Kashmiri song ‘Bumro Bumro’ sung by her, melodiously.
The session proved to be an enlightening experience for the students of Std 3 & 4, who
enjoyed the presentation and the structural way of describing the beautiful places, by the two
renowned people who were born and raised in the state of J&K. This session also concluded
with a beautiful video presentation.
The students got an integral experience into the culture that is prevalent in these places, the
differences from their own cultures and the beauty of each place that brought about the
feeling of patriotism and love for our nation. They enjoyed the array of Kashmiri handicrafts,
embroidery, carving done on wood, spices like saffron and dry garlic, brought to them for a
hands-on experience.
