The little Josephites took centre stage at their very own Annual Day held on 7th December, 2019. Parents, grandparents and well-wishers were there in droves to cheer and encourage them.
The UKG and the LKG students had their function in the morning in two sessions, and it was rather difficult to deduce which group was more excited! The audience was mesmerized by the performances and gave full credit to the hard work and dedication of the staff, the perseverance of the little ones and the belief of the management that the programme would be a success.
The Chief Guest for the UKG Annual Day programme was Col. Arvind Varma, Post Master General Bengaluru Region; while the chief guest for the LKG programme was Dr. Charles Lobo, Chief Post Master General Karnataka Circle. They were accompanied by the Principal Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, Vice Principal Mr. Uday Kumar, OBA President Mr. Ian Lewis, OBA Joint Treasurer Mr. Aditya Kaura , OBA Secretary Mr. Rajeev Shenoy , Vice President of the PTA Mr. K C Joseph , Secretary of the PTA Mrs. Sudeshna Ghosh and the Pre- Primary Coordinator Mrs. Nalini Gupta.
The lighting of the lamp, the recitation of prayers and singing of prayer songs to invoke the blessings of the Almighty marked the commencement of the function. The Principal gave the Welcome Address, introduced the guests and honoured them. Rev Fr Sunil thanked the staff for their tireless efforts in putting the show on the road.
The Chief Guests were all praise for the holistic development of the young, as they had seen at SJBHS, and reiterated that despite the ill effects of social media, parents must do their best to keep their children grounded, focused and capable of dealing with successes and failures.
The Annual Report that followed was a testimony to the holistic development of the students at SJBHS. Along with academics and sports the mind, the heart and the hand are being trained and developed. Hidden talent is brought to the fore, and opportunities of every kind are explored through the academic year.
The entertainment and cultural part of the event included skits with a social message; dance performances based on the folklore of our glorious State; power packed performances on women empowerment/ Pollution / Importance of Sports and Games/ Life before Mobile Phones/ Ban on Plastic. The highlight, however, was the much cherished Christmas Musical.
No one could say that the tiny Josephites had not lived up to their promise to deliver the theme – ‘Step up for a cause without a pause’. Now we have to wait a whole year for the next Annual Day!
