Prayer Service

Fr Stan Swamy and other human rights defenders

Fr Stan Swamy, a Jesuit priest, a human rights activist and a selfless missionary has worked for the voiceless indigenous people of Jharkhand for fifty odd years. Since his imprisonment on 8 October 2020, SJBHS with its management, staff and stakeholders have been campaigning with online petitions, silent marches, rallies and webinars along with ongoing prayer services. A tweetathon #standwithstanswamy on our Instagram and Facebook online portals, on 25 December from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., will join the list of campaigns. The prayer service held on 21 December 2020 began with candles lit by every member gathered in the auditorium in solidarity with the injustice against the under trials. The prayers recited and bhajans sung were synonymous with the purpose of the service. Passages from the Holy Bible were read and reflected upon; Intercessory prayers for all suffering humanity were placed before the Almighty and hymns echoed through the venue. The unison of voices was testimony to the fact that our goal is to be Torchbearers of Constitutional Democracy.
