Fun Day

Pollution

After a refreshing midterm break, it was time for another fun day! This time the children were exposed to the global topic “Pollution”. Pollution is a term which even kids are aware of these days. It has become so common that almost everyone acknowledges the fact that pollution is rising continuously. Pollution affects the quality of life more than one can imagine.

The aim of this fun day was to teach our pre-primary school children, the meaning of the term ‘pollution ‘and its effects on our surroundings and all living beings.

During assembly, Josephites from across sections were brought together to speak on the causes and effects of pollution. These boys were dressed in different props and charts.

The UKG boys explained that pollution happens when the environment is dirtied by waste, chemicals and other harmful substances. They addressed the 3 kinds of pollution: Air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution.

The boys spoke on reducing pollution by means of:
   • Saying no to plastic
   • Growing more trees for fresh air
   • Not littering
   • Remembering the 3 R’s: Reduce, reuse and recycle
   • Start carpooling.

The LKG boys added with apt one-liners:
‘Be a part of the solution, not the pollution.’
‘Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make a change.’
‘Save the earth, we have nowhere else to go.’
‘If you can’t clean your surroundings, then don’t make it dirty.’
‘Let’s nurture the nature so that we can have a better future.’

The teachers taught the children the importance of re-use by saying ‘No to plastic’ by making paper bags as takeaways.
