Personality Development Programmes

On September 1, 2021, SJBHS organized an online session of the Campus Ministry’s Personality Development Programme, for the students of classes 9 and 10. The guest speaker was Fr. Royal Nazareth, the Director of Holy Cross Ministry and of the Students Home. He addressed the students on the topic ‘Vision and Purpose of Life’. The webinar commenced with an invocation of God’s blessing

During the session, Father asked us, students, to participate in an activity to make us realize the most important values of our lives. Further, he played videos explaining the 3 keys for a purposeful life - short term goals, Don’t-give-up attitude, and Believe in yourself. Father also gave us some tips on following each of these keys. In conclusion, he advised us to chase and persuade our goals and dreams. The session ended with a Q & A round.

Personally, I think it was a very interesting and informative webinar. I got an idea about how we can discover the purpose of our lives. As said by Eleanor Roosevelt “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience”.

Personality Development Programme for Classes 7 and 8
Life online can be a challenge, a game changer and the new normal. This was not the case a couple of years back. For some, life online can be bewildering especially if they are teenagers, caught between the age when one feels too small and too big all at once!

Ms Jaicy George, the resource person, was able to elucidate the advantages and drawbacks, the pros and cons and the bare facts about the journey through life on an online platform. She listed the advantages that students could extract from their time online and those salient features could lead a person to expand their horizons, upskill their talents and assist their future goals. Ms Jaicy also enumerated the disadvantages to make the students aware of cyber bullying, mental health issues, cyber predators and phishing, to name but a few. In the end, she re-iterated the fact that we cannot shy away from the internet or from social media but we can use them wisely and safely with support from our parents and friends. The webinar was not only useful and informative, it was the need of the hour!

Personality Development Programme for Classes 5 and 6
The programme aimed at grooming the students by sensitizing them about how they can achieve their dreams and proceed forward in their lives.

The webinar started with a discussion on one's desires, dreams, passions, and motivations. Students were told how important their dreams and desires are for developing the personality. Students were also given tips on how to increase their self-esteem. They were also encouraged to be optimistic and to have a positive approach to everything in life. Most importantly, the speaker emphasized that they should love themselves and never lose confidence.

The speaker played various clips to boost the students' confidence which will help them achieve their dreams. The speaker motivated the students by saying, Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking, and never let someone tell you that you cannot do something. You got a dream; you have to protect it. If you want something, then get it. We should never give up and should always have a strong will. We must always try to pursue our dreams regardless of what may happen and not succumb to our negativity.

It was a great day of learning for the students, which would help them to bring change within themselves.
