Personality Development/Retreat for Students of Std 12

Cura Personalis: intellectual, physical & social wellbeing

Personality Development Sessions for the Non- Christian Students of Std XII were conducted on the 12th and 13th of June, 2023.

The topics for the sessions were, ‘Essentials for Success, Self-Love: An Absolute Dynamic, The Impact of Social-Media on Teenagers and Random Acts of Kindness'. The resource person was Ms Odella John, an in-house teaching faculty member.

The sessions were insightful and involved the students' participation and contribution.

They laughed, they cried, they spoke and they wrote.

They took part wholeheartedly in the activities, discussions, songs, videos and energizers that were curated for them.

A Retreat for the Catholic students of Std XII was organised at ‘Ashirwad’, the Jesuit multi-faith centre on St Mark’s Road, Bengaluru. Fr Arun Luis Director of Ashirwad Centre along with his team comprising of Brother Josvin, Brother Anand, and Fr George, took the two-day session. Based on the importance of self-esteem and self-love, the students reflected on their feelings, their aspirations, their difficulties, and their insights into life lessons.

Both the groups, Catholic and non- Christians, enjoyed the two days of sharing and caring. Their bonds of affinity were strengthened, and their levels of empathy were heightened as they acknowledged each other's vulnerability. They also developed a sense of profound self-worth. They celebrated differences and resolved to end conflicts that acted as a deterrent to their growth.

In the words of one student, who represented the group, "The lessons that we have learnt during the last two days we will remember for the rest of our lives. When we meet twenty years from now at a reunion, we will talk about these memories.”

At SJBHS, Cura Personalis entails a judicious mix of academic, sporting, curricular and co- curricular activities that lead to the mental, physical, social and cultural well-being of the student. In that direction, the personality development /Retreat was just the first of the many programmes to follow!
