Personality Development / Retreat for Std IX

A Time to Reflect

In a world where the youth are more vocal, have their own opinions and have the right to make their own life decisions, it is mandatory that they are guided by values and morals. SJBHS deals with this very task of instilling morals that will hold the students in good stead as they enter into the world beyond the portals of the protected school environment.

The personality development session held on the 22nd of October, in the school auditorium for ninth graders had as speaker Mr. Nestin Vas, an old boy who runs many charitable foundations.

The session mainly focused on the importance of communication, having the right mindset and the way they must deal with peer pressure. With the help of inspirational videos, riddles, fun games and activities, Mr. Nestin re-iterated the values of hard work, perseverance, compassion, nobility and being joyful.

The session helped in identifying strengths and weaknesses, setting goals, effective communication techniques, role-playing and group discussions along with time management and prioritization. It taught the students the importance of self-awareness, self-acceptance, effective communication, goal-setting techniques, conflict resolutions, emotional intelligence and resilience.

The Retreat conducted by Fr. Anoop, was also an enriching event. Fr Anoop’s lively approach, blending traditional spiritual teachings with engaging demonstrations, was a refreshing experience. Fr. Anoop did not merely talk about faith, he demonstrated it. Through dances, songs, and even magic tricks, he found unique ways to convey profound spiritual messages, making the experience entertaining and enlightening Participants were not just passive listeners but actively involved in faith-building activities.

Fr. Anoop's patience and caring nature created an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable, sharing and connecting with others. His lessons on the "keys to heaven" were not just abstract concepts but were illustrated through practical demonstrations that deepened the participants' understanding of spirituality.
