PTA AGM 2019

The grand annual event which brings teachers and parents together as collaborators – the PTA AGM, was held on 21^st June. The Invocation song ‘Power of Your Love’ by the SJBHS staff choir was sung at the commencement and followed by Vice President of the PTA, Mr. Srinivas Vardha, reading the notice convening the meeting.

This notice, after being proposed and seconded for approval, was followed by the reading and adoption of the Annual Report 2018-19 by the secretary of the PTA, Mrs. Sudeshna Ghosh. The financial report for the previous academic year was read by Mr. Vardha, which was also passed for the AGM report. The formalities of the AGM were, thus, stamped and sealed.

The newly appointed Principal of SJBHS, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, was introduced to the parents. In his maiden speech as Principal, he praised the work of the PTA, encouraged the parents to be mentors and nurturers of their wards and to work with the school for the development of their children.

Mrs. Vasantha Adivarekar, the guest speaker for the day, parent of an Old Boy and a family counsellor with 20 years of experience as well as a soft skills trainer of repute, focused on ‘Active Parenting’ as an important skill in a parenting toolkit. The eminent speaker listed the plus points and the negative effects of not listening to children. Mrs. Vasantha fielded questions while giving expert advice to the parents and teachers gathered at the venue.

The vote of thanks heralded the close of the evening with an invitation to the parents to enter their nominations for the new committee for the academic year 2019-20.
