The Orientation programme for the parents of the newly admitted LKG students was held on 22 June 2022. The speaker for the said programme was Dr. Debmita Dutta (parenting and wellness consultant). The programme started with the lighting of the lamp followed by an inter religious prayer service. The music team of SJBHS left no stone unturned in invoking God’s blessings. The students of Std. 1 thanked God for the gift of life, through their stage performance.
Our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ addressed the gathering and assured the parents of the total commitment of the staff of SJBHS towards the all-around development of the child. He also emphasized on the fact that SJBHS is always at the forefront of education in the country. Our Primary School Administrator, Father Vishal D’Souza SJ also welcomed the gathering and talked on how the school functions on the Jesuit principle of forming men and women for others as well as caring for the whole individual.
Our Vice Principal Mr. Brian Mckertish welcomed the speaker, Dr. Debmita Dutta who is no stranger to the school. She addressed the gathering with insights on parenting and how it goes a long way in making successful men and women for the society. She spoke about what a parent can do and should do in order to make the child independent and confident. The statement ‘the father and mother are like sunlight and air in the life of a child’ received overwhelming response from the parents. The resource person stressed on the need of giving unconditional love to the child. Apart from giving tips on good parenting she also laid stress on following a healthy lifestyle which included 10 hours of sleep, healthy breakfast and a calm morning so that the child is able to focus and work. The programme ended with Q&A session.
Further, the pre-primary coordinator, Ms. Nichelle Sharon Pinto gave a detailed insight on the design of the curriculum which was in keeping with the Jesuit principle of cura personalis.
The programme ended with the parents convinced of their decision to put their little ones in a school like SJBHS, a place where their wards would grow into well balanced, overtly independent and well-adjusted members of the society.
