Mr. Thomas Thekkethala, an alumnus of St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, batch of 1977, and founder of the Learn for Life Foundation and the Loyola Technology Center, delivered an inspiring lecture on STEM, themed ‘Saving the Planet and Changing the World’.

He presented solutions available today including:
- Solar, Wind and Hydro clean energy production
- Advanced Battery technology for energy storage
- Smart Grids for more effective energy transmission
- and electric vehicles, heat pumps and other clean energy usage solutions.
All of which would dramatically reduce the world carbon emissions impacting climate change.

He also highlighted disruptive STEM technologies like AI, Robotics, Block chain and Genome sequencing, all of which are changing the way in which we live, and the dramatic increase in job growth in these areas.

Mr. Thekkethala encouraged students to adopt simple practices to reduce their carbon footprints, emphasizing that cleaner energy usage by each of us can collectively make a meaningful impact on climate change. He concluded by stressing the importance of prioritizing sustainability over short-term profits, leaving students inspired to contribute to a greener future.

Mr. Thekkethala then proceeded to distribute prizes and certificates to the winners and participants in the recently concluded 2024-25 AURUM STEM Competition held at St. Joseph’s, which included students from fifteen schools across Karnataka.
