Secularism that is the ethos of SJBHS
An acceptance of race, religion, caste and creed must counter hatred, division, apathy and
indifference. To foster a fraternity that believes in justice, harmony and secularism, SJBHS has
two inter-faith prayer services at the commencement and closure of every academic year.
On 25 th June, 2024 an inter religious prayer service was held in SJBHS. The students and staff
embarked on a prayerful journey in an attempt to embrace peace that helps individuals to create a
compassionate society. To connect more closely with God, students rendered a devotional song
in both English and Hindi along with readings from the scriptures. This segment enabled the
students to use all their senses to connect with the Almighty and each other so that we may live
harmoniously.
The students of Std 5 danced to the melodious tune of a devotional Kannada song invoking
God’s blessings and guidance. To further motivate the young minds, the Principal Fr Sunil
Fernandes SJ addressed the gathering emphasizing on the importance of a peaceful community
and reiterating the conviction that goodness and happiness promotes social cohesion and
community development.
The prayer service serves as a reminder that no matter what religion one follows or which faith
one advocates, it is secularism that is the ethos of the school and underlines all activities that are
part of our curriculum.
