The practice of peace and reconciliation is among the most artistic of human actions.
The serenity of the rituals at SJBHS resonated throughout the school as SJBHS observed its annual Inter-Religious Prayer Service on 20th June, 2019.
Readings from the holy texts of Judaism (Torah), Buddhism (Tripitaka), Islam (Quran), Christianity (Bible), Hinduism (Bhagavad Gita) and Jainism (Agam literature) filled the auditorium as bhajans and hymns in Hindi, Kannada and English reverberated through the hearts and minds of students, showing them the Josephite way with values of peace, love, secularism and brotherhood.
Our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, along with the Vice Principal Mr. Uday Kumar and the administrator of the primary section Fr Allwyn D’Souza SJ, accompanied Mr. Kevin Simon, Chief Guest for the first session and Mr. Alexander Cherian, Chief Guest for the second session, as well as the guest speaker Mr. Sheriyar Vakil.
The Principal welcomed the gathering urging each one to cultivate scholarly hearts and secular minds, keeping in focus the rich culture that belongs uniquely to a Josephite. The guest speaker highlighted the origin, religious beliefs and ethos of the Parsi community. While educating the onlookers on the seven pillars of Zoroastrianism, Mr. Vakil stressed on tolerance, brotherhood, love for all and malice to none.
He stated the universal tenet of ‘Love’ that transcends the sovereignty of all people. The chief guests reinforced the belief that God wants us to live in harmony with one another and for this the change has to be inherent.
The audience was treated to a dance by the ISC girls – a graceful rendition of peace, fraternity, tolerance and oneness.
