SJBHS celebrates Harmony Week symbolizing the essence of peace, reconciliation, integrity and solidarity. Harmony is the state of being in agreement or concord, the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.
St. Josephs’ Boys’ High School celebrated the concept of “Harmony with Self” for the first time. On 25th November the whole school, was decorated with posters based on the theme ‘Harmony’. The Prayer Meet was inaugurated by our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, Vice Principal Mr. Uday Kumar and Primary School Administrator Fr Alwyn D’Souza SJ.
A video of the Vaishnav monk Gour Gopal Das was shown. This was followed by a soothing music rendition which was a blend of 22 dialects of India. To further deepen our learning on embracing peace, thoughts were shared on the concept of ‘harmony of the self’. The whole idea was reinforced through a skit. The programme came to an end with a thought provoking speech given by Fr Principal who re-iterated that harmony is multi-dimensional - be it the seven colours of the rainbow or the seven tunes of music.
On the 27th of November, competitions were organized. Stds 5 and 6 participated in a bookmark making competition, Stds 7 and 8 in collage-making and Stds 9 and 11 in a video-making competition.
In this day and age, at SJBHS we teach the students that there should be harmony with the self, harmony with others and most importantly harmony with nature in order to be peaceful, well-balanced and rational.
