Hands-on With Science

Loyola Technology Centre, Bannerghatta Road

On 5th February 2025, educators from Loyola Technology Centre (LTC), Mr Stephen K. Nebu and Ms Harshitha R, visited Loyola High School, Bannerghatta Road, to engage with students and introduce them to the exciting world of hands-on science. The visit aimed to inspire creativity and curiosity while exploring potential future collaborations between LTC and the school. Upon their arrival, the educators were warmly welcomed by school principals, Fr Jerald Furtado and Ms Gracy along with the coordinator Mr Suraj. Their hospitality set the stage for an interactive and engaging session.

The class, a mix of Kannada and English medium students, was introduced to the basics of electricity by Mr Stephen K. Nebu. The students were taught about open and closed circuits and guided through the process of constructing their own basic circuit systems. The hands-on activity required students to build a closed circuit using batteries and buzzers, followed by a “match the following” puzzle that challenged them to apply their learning.

The session was full of energy as students worked together in teams, helping one another and actively teaching their peers when they encountered challenges. The classroom buzzed with enthusiasm as students made mistakes, asked questions, and creatively solved problems.

At the end of the activity, each student received a buzzer, battery, and battery holder to encourage them to continue building circuits and exploring science through fun, independent projects. The interactive session achieved its goal of fostering creative thinking, curiosity, and collaboration among students. Following the class, the LTC educators had a constructive discussion with the school leadership about the potential to integrate LTC programmes into the school's curriculum. The conversation included ideas for setting up a dedicated classroom for LTC activities, creating a centre of excellence to encourage students to participate in competitive exams and interschool competitions. The event proved to be a significant step towards fostering a strong partnership between Loyola Technology Centre and Loyola High School, with both parties eager to continue working together to enhance the educational experience for students.
