Curiosity and the Mind
At SJBHS, the curiosity of the mind is ignited through the Intra-school Science Fest – Eucranium. The multiple events held at different venues had 365 participants engaged in debate, dialogue and discussion.
The world generates a lot of curiosity – and the mind is busy asking the all-important ‘why.’ And in the process, new thought is born, new inventions appear and new dimensions of science see the light of day!
This year, Eucranium showcased eight events that wove together the art of debating, the magic of looking down a microscope, the skill of testing the dimensions of the psyche, the ability to solve mind boggling puzzles and the application of algorithms to make codes click!
Eucranium 2023 was declared open by Fr. Sunil Fernandes SJ, Principal of SJBHS, during a fabulous opening ceremony. The chief guest, Dr. Madhavan Vardarajan, a theoretical physicist, graced the occasion and enlightened the students on the mysteries of outer space that included black holes, the behaviour of dying stars and new ways of looking at Einstein’s theories. He also drew the attention of the audience to the attributes of a good scientist.
Fr Sunil, in his address, advised the students to develop a scientific temperament, questioning attitude, and a desire to learn. The only purpose of nurturing the skills of problem solving, decision making and logical thinking should be to help mankind to live a better life.
Excitement was the order of the two-day extravaganza and healthy competition was the name of every game. At Eucranium 2023, Science, Tech and Math included everything that spelt fun and enjoyment; creativity was the buzz-word; yet caution was mandatory for there lurked a multitude of challenge around each corner.
