Building Humanity
CLC is a community within the school, a way of life, and a lay vocation that follows the Jesuit principles while forming women and men for others. The community members serve rather than wait to be served; they exchange ideas and ideologies, and they work as a unit for the lost, the last and the least.
Every year, a batch of CLC members leaves the school while new members are recruited, all by their own personal choice. These members can be from any caste or creed, race or language. The main motto is service.
On the 18th of July, the community for the year 2024-2025 was inaugurated. Fr Olvin Vegas SJ was the guest speaker for the occasion. A faculty member of St Joseph’s Institute of Management Bengaluru, Fr Olvin specializes in Theology and Business Management and has immense experience required for CLC to motivate the students to give of their best. He threw light on Ignatian charism and spirituality of CLC, mission and vision statement of CLC, and the need to be an apostolic community.
Our Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, in his address enlightened the students on the purpose of forming a group and their commitment towards the same. There were video presentations of the activities of the CLC groups around the world and in India. The students were motivated to begin the activities of CLC.
The inaugural ceremony was only the beginning of events to come. A number of activities are laid out for the year. The students now had a vision of the year ahead and the role they were to play in social sensitization and service wherever possible.
