CADENCE 2023

On the 17th and 18th of August 2023, SJBHS proudly presented the much-anticipated fourth edition of Cadence, the Inter School Music Festival. Over the years, Cadence has evolved beyond being a mere competition; it has become a celebration, a place where young musicians find their musical kinship.

As usual, schools from across the city participated enthusiastically this year. The festival included singing categories - solo, duet, and group - divided into Junior (grades 5 to 7) and Senior (grades 8 to 10) sections. Cadence 2023, also featured an ISC and PUC Singing event for the students of grades 11 and 12. Additionally, Cadence 2023 introduced a special category for Western Instrumental performances for both juniors and seniors.

Acknowledging the city's diverse linguistic landscape, participants were allowed to perform in English, Hindi, and Kannada, adding a cultural richness to the event.

With the participation of over 700 talented individuals from schools like Kingston High School, SFS Public School, Baldwin Girls High School, and more, the festival achieved great success, enhancing the reputation of the school.

The inaugural ceremony took place on August 17th in the school auditorium. The esteemed Chief Guest, Ms. Sandra Oberoi, a well-known city musician and the founder of Harmony- The Music School, emphasized the importance of mindful singing, courage, and creativity in her address. Our Principal, Rev. Fr. Sunil Fernandes SJ, an ardent music lover, expressed his joy to be part of Cadence and envisioned a bright future for the festival, akin to the school's acclaimed “Phenomenon” festival.

He thanked the music department for their efforts in making the event possible and officially declared the competitions open.

The two-day festival showcased exceptional singing talents, inspiring a new wave of aspiring musicians. The Prize Giving Ceremony on August 18th awarded the prestigious rolling trophy to Mitra Academy for their outstanding performances across categories. The winners were celebrated with enthusiastic applause, marking a memorable moment in their lives.
