Tiny Tots’ Talent Show!
This year the much-awaited CHILGALA was celebrated for 3 days from November 11th to 13th. The event began with the opening ceremony on November 11th. Dr. Pretesh Rohan Kiran (1994 Batch) Associate Professor at St John’s Medical College was the chief guest. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a prayer song and a welcome dance.
The chief guest encouraged the students to uphold the principles of Faith and Toil. The Primary Administrator, Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, urged the students to enjoy themselves.
Chilgala has always been one of merriment and reiterates the fact as to how important and loved the Josephites are to their teachers and to the school. It is not only about fun but also about bringing out the hidden talents of the young students. After all, SJBHS never forgets to live up to the Jesuit principle of Cura Personalis.
The tiny tots of LKG and UKG participating in large numbers in the Talent Show Competition. Some showed their talent in dancing, some in singing, some in explaining the different parts of the plant etc. The second day of Chilgala saw the corridors of the Pre-Primary department adorned with different colours as the children came dressed in various colours with each class following a colour code and bringing fruits and vegetables of the colour assigned to them.
Several competitions were conducted for the students of Std 1 to 4.
Std 1 had competitions like Masquerade, Colour Collage, Origami, Instrumental and Singing. Std 2 had competitions like Masquerade, Colour Collage, Instrumental, Elocution and Singing.
The theme for the Masquerade for Std 1 was Aquatic Life. The children portrayed an alligator, a jellyfish etc. and spoke about the character they resembled. The theme for Std 2 was Nature. Children represented birds, animals, clouds etc. and spoke about the same.
Colour Collage-The children’s faces lit up with joy as they cut colourful papers and stuck it with glue.
Origami-the children enjoyed making origami and shaping colourful paper into animals and birds and loved watching their creations.
Instrumental- Children played their instruments with passion and confidence. They felt proud to showcase their talent in music in front of an audience.
Singing- Children sang enthusiastically, their voices full of innocence and charm, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone in the audience.
Elocution-Children presented their poems with poise, clarity, and expression, enthralling the audience.
The competitions for Std 3 and 4 were Story-telling, Instrumental, Singing, Puppet Making and Art and Design.
Story Telling-Children left the audience spellbound with their imaginative tales and expressive voices. Each child brought a story to life using gestures and expressions. They showcased their creativity with their unique spin on the character and events.
Puppet Making- Children displayed their artistic skills, crafting puppets with expressive faces, vibrant colours and intricate designs.
Art and Design-Children created their unique design, each one creating their masterpiece blending colours, shapes and textures. This encouraged children to think Out-of-the-box. Each project reflected originality, creativity, and innovation.
Ms. Jacqueline Leena Suchith conducted an engaging ‘Math Magic and Tricks’ workshop for the 3rd and 4th graders. Fun ways to approach mathematical concepts, captivating hacks and interactive tricks showed math to be logical, enjoyable and effortless!
Children had a blast with tattoo painting, choosing vibrant designs to decorate their arms. They had fun in the bouncy castle and played a variety of games. The children were mesmerized by the magic show, clapping hands and cheering as the magician amazed them with spellbinding tricks.
Chilgala concluded with the closing ceremony on November 13th. Dr Andrea D’Souza, member of the Indian Dental Association, was the chief guest. She advised the children about oral hygiene. She also told the children about Jawaharlal Nehru and his love for children.
