One of the main attractions of the Sports Complex at SJBHS, is the indoor heated swimming
pool. The sparkling blue water beckons the students to practice, to relax and to exercise,
whether it is early morning or after class hours.
The hours of practice are put to the test during the Annual Athletic Meet when our students
compete for gold, silver and bronze in a splash of events, both solo and team relays. This
year, too, the students were geared for an all-out competition to identify the Michael Phelps
of SJBHS!
On 2 December 2022, the pool was all set for the day. While the precincts of the pool were
decorated with the blue and white colours of the school, the excitement among the students
was palpable.
Mr. Hakkimuddin Habibulla, Old Boy and Olympian swimmer, graced the occasion with his
presence. He encouraged the students to do their best in the pool, enjoying their journey in
this arena, in spite of victory or setbacks. The races began with the free style events and
proceeded with the back stroke and breast stroke. The highlight, however, were the
Interschool and the Inter-house relays. The race that got the maximum cheering was the first
of its kind Inter-House mixed relay for the ISC students.
The Prize Distribution lauded the winners and encouraged the others to do better in the years
to come. The Annual Athletic Meet brought to the fore the fact that hard work throughout the
year, dedication to the sport and of hours of practice were the key to success – there are no
short cuts when it comes to putting your ‘best stroke’ forward!
