Celebrating a day; Celebrating a journey!
The day belonged to the academic achievers of SJBHS.
For the students of Std 10 and 12, it was ‘the day’ that they were looking forward to. After a year of toil, stress, unprecedented focus, and unwavering determination, they had reached the end – a stop gap before they fly to greater glory! SJBHS celebrates it academic achievers with accolades, certificates and so much more – self-confidence, self-assurance, self-reliance, and self- sufficiency, to name but a few! The 5 th of August 2023 will be engraved in the hearts and minds of those students who were called to fill the auditorium. The students of Std 6 to 12 as well as the prize winners of the recently concluded board examinations were invited to the felicitation. They filled the front seats of the auditorium in serene silence yet with a glow of pride on their faces and a swell of self-importance in their hearts!
The dignitaries included the Chief Guest, Mr. Vivek K Chandy, Joint Managing Partner, JSA Advocates and Solicitors, Old Boy Batch of 1983; Fr Michael John SJ, Former Principal of SJBHS; OBA President, Dr Praveen Rodrigues; OBA Joint Secretary Mr Aditya Kaura; PTA Vice President, Mr Aravind Gowda; and PTA Secretary Ms Priyadarshini. They were escorted by the Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, to the auditorium, after being awarded the guard of honour.
The event commenced with the school song, lighting of the lamp and the prayer. This was followed by the Invocation hymn calling on the Almighty to bless the gathering, especially the prize winners. Fr Sunil welcomed the audience and re-iterated the importance of perseverance in all-round education as promulgated by the Jesuit philosophy. Father thanked the staff, parents, Old Boys, and the PTA for their continual support in taking the school to greater heights of glory!
The Annual Report was a display of the events of the academic year 2022-2023. The sheer number, diversity and grandeur of the events reflected the hard work and dedication invested by the staff and students in making every pupil a worthy citizen of an ever-changing tomorrow.
The entertainment programme that followed was super-refined and wholesome. Brief yet profound, it included song and dance that serenaded the achievers; threw light on the plight of the suffering humanity around the world; brought to the fore the challenges of global warming; and reminded the audience of the unfinished fight for equality and impartiality that was highlighted by Fr Stan Swamy.
The Chief guest, Mr. Vivek Chandy, in his address gave five pointers to the audience – Being ever thankful, especially to the teachers and the Jesuits; Spreading love and valuing the secular fabric that the school propounds; Being united as fellow Josephites always do; Paying it forward as every act of kindness has a multiplier effect; and keeping the motto of ‘Faith and Toil’ in every aspect of one’s life. His words resonated in the hearts and minds of every Josephite, irrespective of age, status, or position!
The Prize Distribution celebrated the academic achievers. As one more year went by, it was one more batch reaping rich dividends for the school, scaling newer heights for themselves while harnessing the will and wish to do better than the year gone by!
