Schooling is Off to a Great Start!
The academic achievers of the Primary section are our heroes! They braved the learning gaps during the pandemic, they challenged the drawbacks of online teaching, and they defied the very onslaught of the virus that threw much of humanity out of gear. They came out victorious – thanks to their parents, teachers, and the school.
The Annual Prize Day, held on August 5 th , was a celebration to mark the success and progress of the students from Std 1-4. The excitement, in the auditorium, was palpable as the prize winners sat bearing a self-important posture, a glow of pride on their faces and nothing but pure joy in their hearts – after all, their hard work, dedication and focus had brought success. The dignitaries included the Chief Guest, Mr Biju Antony, CEO and Executive Director Baccarose Perfumes, Old Boy Batch of 1985; OBA President, Dr Praveen Rodrigues; OBA Secretary Mr K T Lazar; PTA Vice President, Mr Aravind Gowda; and PTA Secretary Ms Priyadarshini. They were escorted by the Principal, Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, to the auditorium, after being awarded the guard of honour.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. At SJBHS, every event starts with a prayer. The prayer calls on the presence of the Almighty to bless the gathering as well as the proceedings.
The short entertainment programme with a dance performance and the song, was a display of rhythm in motion.
Fr Sunil, then welcomed the audience, congratulated the prize winners, and advised the Josephites to continue to work hard towards the pinnacle of success. The Chief Guest, Mr Biju Anthony, thanked Fr Sunil for the honour and said it was good to be back in school. He said that the school was at its glorious height all because of the quality of education given to its students. The focus of education here is not only academics but a care for the entire person. He encouraged the young awardees to make perseverance their mantra.
The day concluded with the prizes being distributed and the certificates being awarded to the academic achievers. It was a day for the awardees to be proud of; a day to remind them to work hard in the coming year; and a day to remind everyone else that there are no short cuts to success – it is all in the perseverance and focus.
