Jesuit education has three main pillars – character formation, social concerns, and academic excellence. While the process of education itself is ongoing, we at SJBHS stop at intervals to measure the progress, encourage the achievers, and boost the morale of the ones who fall short. Each academic year is reviewed thus. 2nd August 2024 saw two sessions; morning and afternoon, under the banner of Annual Prize Day Juniors and Seniors respectively.

The Chief guests for the sessions were Mr. Mark Thomas (Global Transfer Pricing Leader, Ernst &Young/ Old Boy, 1995 batch) and Mr. Mathew Chandy (CMD Duroflex/ Old Boy, 1994 batch).

The dignitaries, which included the Chief Guests, Former Principal Fr Michael John SJ, distinguished members of the OBA and PTA, were escorted to the auditorium led by the Principal Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, Vice Principal Mr. Brian McKertish and the Primary School Administrator Fr Norvin Pereira SJ, through the Josephite guard of honour. At the very onset prayers were offered and young angelic voices sang the invocation to acknowledge the hand of the Almighty in the manifold blessings bestowed on the school.

It was a day to set aside academics, sports and co-curricular activities and revel in the glory of achievement. Our versatile dancers pleased the crowd with their graceful moves and put on record that the all-round development of the individual is of prime importance at SJBHS. This was showcased in the presentation of the Annual Report which garnered a round of thunderous applause from the audience.

Fr Principal welcomed the gathering while the Vice Principal introduced the Chief Guests. The messages from the podium of the Chief Guests were to congratulate the academic achievers, discover their innate strengths and to always abide by the Josephite motto of ‘Faith and Toil.’ Faith can move mountains while Toil has no substitute!

The next part of the programme was related to awards, awards, and more awards. The academic achievers beamed with happiness while their proud parents were all smiles as the audience applauded the perseverance, dedication and determination of the students during the academic year 2023-24. Another memorable day was celebrated with grandeur at the school; another year had brought forth new batches of students of Std 10 and 12 ready to take on the world; and another year had begun to shape and mold young women and men for and with others.
