Christian Life Community (CLC)

Inculcating Empathy and Humanity

The Christian Life Community at SJBHS suffered a slight set back because of the pandemic but revived a school reopened for the new academic term.

CLC is a movement that originated in 1563 when the Jesuit, John Leunis, gathered a group of lay students at the Roman College to form the Sodality of Our Lady. The CLC draws its inspiration from the teachings of the Jesuit founder, St Ignatius of Loyola, and receives spiritual guidance from the Jesuits. Members are encouraged to lead a life style as directed by the gospel, incorporating contemplation and action into a simple yet value-based existence.

Forty-five students from classes 6 -12 enrolled for membership in the CLC and were installed as members during the CLC inauguration on 18 July 2022. They were made aware of their role in the activities of the community, the responsibilities of living a value-based life and the task of leading by example. The inaugural programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the prayer and prayer song. The Vice Principal, in his message, asked the students to follow the gospel values in all aspects of life so as to be united in mind, body and spirit as a community.

Fr Sunil Fernandes SJ, Principal of SJBHS, advised the CLC members to walk in the likeness of their creator. Father wished the students and the staff a fruitful year ahead, a year in which they go forth to make a difference. The Vote of thanks, a photo shoot and cutting of the celebratory cake marked the end of the Inauguration programme on one hand but on the other hand it heralded the start to a line-up of events with the sole purpose of leading forty-five students into a tomorrow wherein they are socially sensitized, morally responsible and spiritually sound!
